Kristen works with individual adults dealing with stress and exhaustion through professional counseling services. Her clients’ ages range from College Aged through Senior Citizens. Regardless of their age, she helps her clients get unstuck and find freedom, happiness, love, peace, and joy. Her passion is about real transformation at the core.
All throughout her childhood, Kristen found others were often opening up to her, sharing their pain, and feeling better as a result of her ability to listen well. As she progressed through school, she realized that her natural, open, easy-to-talk-to personality was a great foundation for psychology, so she set her sights on earning a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. After completing undergraduate studies at Charleston Southern University just outside of Charleston, SC, she went on to attend graduate school at Wheaton College Graduate School in Wheaton, IL, about 30 miles west of Chicago.
Through education and experiential training, Kristen learned how to help people heal at the root cause of their pain. She focused her time on developing a deep understanding of the power of the unconscious and how it affects people through studying a specific style of mental health therapy called Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, a style of counseling she is very passionate about to this day.
After graduating, she moved back home to Charleston, SC, where she worked in private practice. For many years, she worked with HealthFirst Urgent and Primary Care to help clients overcome the physical issues that accompanied their emotional pain. These physical symptoms included problems such as difficulty sleeping, gastrointestinal issues, and a long-term need for anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications, just to name a few.
In June of 2016, Kristen moved to New Orleans to get a change of scenery and take part in a continuing education program with the New Orleans-Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center. While in New Orleans, she deepened her training of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through classes, supervision, and taking part in psychoanalysis as a client herself.
Kristen has been back in Charleston since 2018 working in the Charleston Executive Offices in Mount Pleasant. She remains passionate about helping clients through Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy to lower stress and live richer, more fulfilling lives.
Here are some previous clients’ words:
“Kristen is a disciplined listener, has a nurturing way that made me feel safe, and allows her clients to determine their pace for healing. She reflects and interjects on a limited basis and withholds judgement – ultimately showing respect for her patients and what they’re going through. I felt like she was holding my hand through the painful process of healing and that’s what I needed. If you want the best, the safest, see Kristen.”
“Kristen offers a path to healing that can be life changing if you are willing to be vulnerable and desire change enough to stick with it. It is not easy, but so worth it!”
